The Aqqutikitsoq glacier peak

This is a classic sea to summit adventure, and from the rugged hills around Sisimiut we cross into a true alpine zone with jagged peaks and the trail to the Aqqutikitsoq Glacier peak.

The first part of the trail follows parts of the Arctic Circle Trail between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq, and we often follow or meet locals from Sisimiut driving their dogsleds or riding snowmobiles.

Once we’re past the viewpoint over the fiord Kangelruarsuk Tulleq traffic peters out, and we now begin the climb, more than 1300 vertical meters from the frozen fiord to a peak where the views are nothing short of amazing.

It is a place where coffee, tea, and snacks just taste better, where the air feels crisper, cleaner, and fresher, and when you find a spot in the sun up here to enjoy your lunch it is with that distinct top of the world feeling.

Practical stuff
We only bring two passengers on a trip like this, and it makes this an exclusive 6-8 hour day in the snow.

We always bring safety gear, a sat phone, sleeping bags and a tent, and you will be equipped with a helmet and walked through any necessary saftey procedures before we take off.
