Angujaartorfik and Tatsip Ataa
On this 6 day adventure we visit the Angujaartorfik area with the beautiful Angujaartorfiup Kuua, also known as the Robinson River, before moving on to Tatsip Ataa and Tasersuaq, The Great Lake, at the bottom of the valley.
Both places have good trails without challenging climbs and the chance of seeing wild life out here is really good, with musk oxen especially numerous.
The trails make it reasonably easy to access the inland areas and get close to nature, while at Tatsip Ataa we leave the trails for a while to reach a hilltop and the impressive views of Tasersuaq.
Angujaartorfik and Tatstip Ataa are places rich in history, with the former a full blown Summer settlement and Tatsip Ataa acting as a camp area from where the traditional longboats, the umiaq, were carried to the Tasersuaq lake, giving access to the enormous backcountry.
Along the shores of the fiord we also find many encestral remains, and we often pull in to get a sense of times past while paddling the huge Kangerlussuaq fiord.
