Full day dogsled ride in Sisimiut

The dogsled is an important part of Greenlandic culture, and in ancient times it was the only means of transportation during the winter, when the land was covered with ice and snow.

A full day adventure out of Sisimiut is a breathtaking trip with numerous impressions of the winter landscape, and it is a dogsled ride through rugged terrain with steep mountainsides.

Leavng town we climb and climb till we reach the trails leading to our first stop at the Qiterlinnguaq. We’re now at an important waypoint for dogsledders in the area, and from up here we have impressive views over the Kangerluarsuk Tulleq Fiord to the north and the Nasaasaaq Mountain in the horizon from where you just came.

The skilled driver then takes you and his dogs safely down the steep northern slope onto the fiord, and across the ice to the eastern end of this frozen expanse before returning to the bustling town life of Sisimiut.

Out here size becomes irrelevant since everything is big and beautiful, and over the course of a full day you have time to better understand the unique chemistry necessary between driver and dogs for things to work in perfect harmony along the challenges of the trail.
