From Sisimiut we do one day trips to the alpine mountains northeast of town where a small glacier and a number of steep slopes are available. Or we can step things up a notch and head down to the rugged Itilleq mountains.

Driving partially off-road we take the fascinating route to the spectacular Russell Glacier. The glacier is an impressive sight with its vertical ice walls rising as high as 40 metres.
Try a walk on the Ice Cap followed by a delicious barbecue. We drive in 4WD-vehicles that take us through an incredibly beautiful landscape, through mountains, plains and semi-desert valleys till we get to the Greenland Ice Cap itself.
The Ice Road is an experience onto itself, like nothing else in Greenland, and nowhere is the Greenland Ice Cap as accessible from a town as it is from Kangerlussuaq.
Very few people get much further onto the Ice Cap than 200 meters but on this trip you explore the unique landscape with hills and valleys, and numerous crystal blue melt water streams, rivers, waterfalls and lakes.
