Try a walk on the Ice Cap followed by a delicious barbecue.

We drive in 4WD-vehicles that take us through an incredibly beautiful landscape, through mountains, plains and semi-desert valleys. Near the Ice Cap the rough, jagged Russell Glacier comes into view and a fantastic moraine landscape appears.

The Ice Road is an experience onto itself, like nothing else in Greenland, and nowhere is the Greenland Ice Cap as accessible from a town as it is from Kangerlussuaq.

At the end of the road, we walk to and up on the world’s second largest glacier itself – a unique experience. We spend some time on this vast ice surface before returning to our vehicle, and as we head back there are good chances of spotting reindeer, musk oxen and, depending on the season of the year, many species of birds and flowers.

Invigorated after the experience of walking on the Ice Cap, we enjoy grilled Greenlandic specialties including a beverage while we admire the view of the ice.
