Ice Caving
Arctic Caving Adventure
The Ice Cap is like huge living organism, always moving and changing, and during the short, intense Summer the melting surface water percolates through cracks in the ice and creates deep holes and massive moulins.
When Winter kicks in and the glacier freezes up we gear up to go into a fabulous underworld, rich in colors and light. Every year is different, and you never know what wonders will appear once you descend. All we know is that this is an exclusive adventure that only very people will ever get a chance to do.
To go on a trip like this you either need documented glacier experience, an ice climbing course, or you have to take part in a preparation course in Kangerlussuaq. A first aid course is also advisable to have completed recently.
Practical Stuff
This is a weeklong trip and we provide all climbing gear, tents, pulks, camp equipment, and all food and drink throughout the trip. The guide also brings a first aid kit, gps, map, compas, and a sat phone for emergency use.
All participants must be 18 years old.
Ice Caving is available in October and November and begins with a transfer to the end of the road at Point 660 from where we hike onto the Ice Cap.
Since the Ice Caving adventures are highly customized trips made for each specific group we advise that you contact us for more info on the Ice Caving options including detailed trip descriptions, gear and clothing, pricing, etc.
