Meet the sled dogs

One of the closest relatives to the wolf, the Greenlandic sled dog, has been refined to be one of the strongest working dogs in the world over the course of more than a millennium.

In Sisimiut it has been the primary means of winter transportation for centuries, but the tradition had a hard time in the 1970s and 80s due to the introduction of snowmobiles.

However, 60 years of two-stroke engineering is hardly a match for more than one thousand years of optimised design and breeding: So even to this day the dog sled, though not as fast, still surpasses any other winter terrain vehicle in terms of reliability (and, if we may add, cuddliness).
