Minicruise to Kangaamiut
The highest peaks on Greenland’s West Coast form the backdrop of the settlement Kangaamiut, where hunting and fishing in the rich fiords and backcountry sustain a population of 350 people.
On this minicruise we visit this thriving community, and when you stroll around the settlement make sure to visit some of the local artisans who work year round to produce some of the finest crafts on the coast.
Numerous staircases lead to rocky knolls offering views of not only the Kangaamiut island but also the characteristic double peaks to the North, and the entrance to the massive, mysterious Eternity Fiord system.
Also, we cruise through Hamborg Sound both ways and the peaks here rise nearly 2000 meters straight out of the fiords so a camera might be a good thing to bring.
Remember your binoculars as well, since whales, eagles, seals, and other marine creatures may show up at any given moment.
