Musk ox and reindeer hunting in Kangerlussuaq

Musk ox and reindeer hunting in Kangerlussuaq

Hunting for musk oxen and reindeer is like listening to and learning from the echoes of hundreds of generations past, and the land we travel over has seen countless local hunters over millennia.

Our hunting area has the biggest population of musk oxen in Greenland, and there’s even a large population of reindeer.

The season kicks of in early July, and the first few months are reserved solely for trophy hunting, so we have the backcountry to ourselves, and we can therefore guarantee a 100% successful musk ox hunt and good chances of getting reindeer.

There are several other providers in Greenland; all are small, often only a single outfitter working as a guide. We offer 3 outfitters that can each handle hunting parties of up to four hunters.

When hunting, we split up into smaller groups, each with one or two hunters and one guide, spotter, and carrier. The groups will be hunting and scouting in each their separate area.

Every camp consists of 1-2 large sleeping tents with folding beds and mosquito nets, and a large tent for eating and socializing. All tents have full standing heights, benches, chairs and tables, and even heating when needed. How’s that for remote backcountry comfort!

Meals are prepared exclusively by our own chef. During the stay we will consume local luxury produce like smoked trout, smoked salmon, dried caribou meat and good hearty camp food and other local delicacies.

The entire trip is a weeklong adventure with 3-4 days of hunting. And while you’re already out there we can get into some angling (certain areas only) and sightseeing.

Practical stuff
The trip begins at Kangerlussuaq Airport, the gateway to Greenland, where we will pick you up before flying you out to the hunting camp.

For info about logistics, gear, trophy preparation, and much more we have built a FAQ about all things trophy hunting and if you have further questions get in touch with us about this season’s adventures.

On all our adventures we bring a nurse specialized in Arctic emergency care and treatment.
