The Arctic Circle Capital

Sisimiut taps into the rich history of whaling, colonialism, and contemporary Greenlandic city life to produce a powerful mix of traditional and modern on an urban, Arctic scene.

Dogsledding blends with crews of snowboarders and snowmobile teams in the Winter while the hills and fiords come alive with hikers, minicruising, and settlement visits over the Summer.

Sisimiut is also the basecamp for more specialized adventurers who want to go Arctic diving, river angling, heliskiing, and backcountry snowmobiling.
